Dr. Chioma Egu, Honourable Commissioner for Health in Imo State

About The Commissioner

Dr. Chioma Egu is the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Imo State, bringing extensive experience in healthcare management and public health. She is a passionate advocate for accessible healthcare, mental health awareness, and community wellbeing. Dr. Egu has led key initiatives including the 2025 African Vaccination Week and various mental health advocacy efforts across the state.


Under Dr. Egu's leadership, the Ministry has implemented innovative healthcare programs, strengthened emergency preparedness, and enhanced access to quality medical services. She works closely with healthcare workers, local communities, and international partners to deliver sustainable healthcare impact. Her vision focuses on creating a healthier Imo State where every citizen has access to compassionate, quality healthcare services.

2025 African Vaccination Week: Protecting Our Future

Project Objective: To achieve comprehensive immunization coverage across Imo State by reaching over 50,000 children and adults with essential vaccines. This initiative aims to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases, reduce child mortality rates, and strengthen the state's public health infrastructure. The Ministry is committed to ensuring equitable access to vaccination services, particularly in rural and underserved communities, through strategic partnerships with healthcare workers, community leaders, and international health organizations. By implementing evidence-based vaccination programs, conducting health education campaigns, and establishing robust monitoring systems, we aim to create a healthier, more resilient Imo State where every citizen has access to life-saving immunizations.
